As a joiner we would chock large loads on the wagons. This is using long 3″x3″ timbers across the wagon beds and then either using large wooden wedges or/and timbers upto and on the load. It was mainly Sunters but there could be other firms that could have small contracts. Another was BRS.

A lot of the small stuff that went out of the Machine Shop was taken by Seatons.
Isn’t it going the wrong way for Head Wrightson’s, they were in Thornaby?
Head Wrightsons made it and it is being delivered to the customer.
Why are Pickfords doing the job instead of Sunters, anyone know?
Pickfords did jobs now and again, maybe Sunters were not able to cover this trip. Maybe Ken Pattison or someone else can comment on this?
