  1. Not sure whether my brass plate above is a real or reproduction artifact. The finish looks a bit rough to me, eg around the word commemorate. Nevertheless I have seen this vehicle plate cropping up for sale at railway relic fairs occasionally over the years. The National Railway Museum has a similar plate (photo available on-line) of superior finish where the word locomotive is subsitituted for vehicle, otherwise the same design.

  2. How is it that a town that heralded the beginning of the passenger rail service has such a delapidated and rundown station? If this was The USA or any other major world country there would be a museum two storeys high to let the world know about it.
Another thing I see they have erected a steel mural to commemorate the railway on 1825 way.Very good idea, but across the road you have one of the oldest railway buildings in the world if not the oldest in the world used as a hostel is it? hmmm stop the world I want to get off.

  3. I have in my possesion a medal commemerating the 100th anniversary.
how much would that be worth? [it’s not for sale]

    • If yours is the 1925 medal in grey metal, presented by the mayor (L.Ropner), one sold on e-bay a couple of weeks ago for £5. But there was another medal issued in silver, this is considerably rarer and far more valuable…
