Stockton Corporation Tram Ticket

t13364 t13365We believe this to be an old tram ticket possibly pre 1931 and issued by the Stockton Corporation Transport Services. Was Old River Bridge between Erimus Yard and the good lines in what is known as the ‘Wilderness’ area?

  1. Stockton Corporation Transport ran services in partnership with Thornaby town Council to cover journeys throught the borough. The corporation boundary was therefore the old river bridge on the Wilderness road. In those days for purpose of accounting and distribution of revenues to both Stockton and Middlesbrough Councils; passengers wanting to travel to Middlesbrough purchased 2 tickets one to the Old River. The second from the Old River to their destination. By the time I worked on the buses in the mid ’60s this system had been modified with through tickets.

  2. On the subject of trams, would it be possible for anyone to let me know where the network covered back in the day, as I’d be quite interested?
