  1. Martins Bank was the only major British bank in those days with a H.Q outside of London, in its case Liverpool. The then Bank of Liverpool took over a very old London bank Martins in 1918 ,hence the name. In 1969 Martins was taken over by Barclay’s.

  2. There was a branch there on Norton Road (most recently Lucinda’s restaurant) but this is the Goldie’s building.
