Hi David, I only ever knew it as the Masonic Hall, and as I say I lived near from 1966, I remember the VG shop on the green, which I think may have been Walter Wilsons before that. I also remember Mam saying ‘ridiculous prices in there’ !
I’m pretty sure that this was previously a grocery store , perhaps Walter Wilsons or Hintons ?
I lived in Billingham from 1966-1989, firstly on Roscoe Road and then Tibbersly Avenue, as a kid I remember watching people going into the hall, everyone well dressed and me thinking they were some sort of royalty !
