This shows the Newcastle to Whitby “Merrymaker” excursion, hauled by Deltic locomotive number 55002 travelling under the bridge just north of Stockton Station with the old gasworks on the right c1981.

It brings back memories of when I used to train spot Whitby my favourite place
I remember this trip very well and I also took a similar photo from this spot. A great day out in Whitby and travelling behind a deltic……superb!
