An excellent photograph of another well designed ‘new build’ section of Yarm High St showing Presto’s (formerly Hinton’s) before the adjacent Victoria Garage premises were purchased and the grd. flr. supermarket floor-space was fully extended across to the corner of Silver St. The extensive rear workshops and yard of the garage were then converted to a large customer car-park /delivery-bay. It is by now a branch of the Sainsbury’s chain.

I remember Victoria garage very well. We bought our first new car a Hillman Imp there in 1965. Think the managers name was Mr Lodge.
