What a good set of memories were evoked by the photograph of my Aunt Mary, titled ‘Mary Peacock Manager of the Regal Fish and Chip Shop’ posted 16 December 2014.
This photograph shows Mrs Mary Peacock, after retiring from the Regal Fish and Chip Shop, which became a Chinese Take-Away.
Her husband, Charlie, died in 1967, but she had a number of close friends. The taller lady is Dorothy, who lived in a large house on the opposite side of Norton Road, just next the concrete bridge which goes over the Billingham Branch Line. This photograph was taken in the mid-1980s.
Photograph and details courtesy of Fred Starr.
Dorothy lived in the bungalow right next to the Bridge on Norton Road. Which would be opposite the Newlands Pub.
