  1. Happy memories of Saturday mornings wandering through markets with my dad in early 1960s . My mum worked Saturday for Mr Fernie in his fruit and veg shop in Tilery. Still have my love of seafood from early age of buying crab claws shrimps cockles winkles etc from market.

  2. Born in Stockton 1949, spent teenage years during the sixties enjoying scenes such as this every Saturday. The best years of my life! Thanks Picture Stockton archive for a great site and some very evocative photo’s

  3. I used to love walking my kids on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the market.
There was a stall that sold Marks and Spencer clothes really cheaply.

  4. Yes and just look how busy the market is! I think it was better when
the market was set out like that, you could spend hours in there.

  5. The Stockton I loved and enjoyed my youth, Saturdays few pints in the American Tavern and a walk round town with mates.
Vibrant market day with the sun shining before it last ground to Middlesbrough during the shake up, what a loss.
At least then the Xmas tree was something worth looking at.
