    • I too was undecided on the lights but….
…on a practical level they are pretty good, there are very few of them needed to illuminate the whole High Street. (So maybe they are less obtrusive?)
…on their looks, they were a bold decision and I must admit they have grown on me, so well done SBC.

Stockton needs to stand out from the crowd and personally I quite like the mix of modern and heritage that we now have. We are not living in a museum piece, we live in a post-industrial town that needs to move forward, while respecting it’s past (hence the crane like design of the lights). If I need a “fix” of the quaint retro look then I’m sure there are plenty of other places to visit.

      • I can see how they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve loved them from the start. I love how they can join in with every event or occasion, they looked brilliant at Christmas and I’m looking forward to seeing them turning the High Street red, white and blue on 8 May for the VE Day Event.
