Wagons bound for Hills c1950/52

IH0161 IH0162These wagons stood in a siding next to Pond house, Billingham. The logs were bound for Hills Factory, Stockton where they were to be made into plywood c1950-1952.

  1. I wonder why the logs were stored so far from Hill’s factory. If my memory serves me right, Stockton goods yard, was always under used. Was there any sidings on the north shore branch near to the factory?.

  2. My Mam, Olive Trattles, worked at Hills as a door inspector, with a guy called Wesley Scholes (Scholls?) back in the 1950s .
