Harry Redhead as he was known at Newham Grange School in the forties, was a lovely man who taught English at Secondary level, and lived in a house backing onto the Stockton Cricket field.. Interesting to note he became Head Master of Ragworth Primary School in later years. His Fellow Teacher Ray Irvine taught maths at Newham Grange in the same period and became Head Master of a Thornaby School, I think it may have been Arthur Head School. Ray died not long after taking up the Head Master appointment at a young age, and will be remembered by all the sports minded students from Newham Grange who he helped develop. I know he was a great influence on my career both in Sport and life…
Mr Ray Irvine was the Headmaster at Robert Atkinson Sec Mod in Thornaby. He was the head all the time I was there (I left in 1973) and until it closed shortly after.
This building was constructed by George Fordy & Sons Ltd, of Boathouse Lane.
I was a apprentice bricklayer on it. We also built the Centenary pub on the Glebe estate.

Does John Redhead still not live in one of the Groves?
Only know him living on the Glebe somewhere near to Fulthorpe Road.

The foreman was John Redhead.
John Redhead is still living on the Glebe
Was John Redhead any relation to the Headmaster of Ragworth Primary School back in 1950s?
I think he had only one sister.
