So very sad to only just hear that Robbie died in 2017, him and Peter were like a double act, so very funny. I worked part time for them at the Garrick in 1971, and they treated the staff like royalty, often sending out for a Chinese after we had closed, they were fantastic bosses, but truly lovely people.
I played football for the Riverside for a number of years and we had a good team at local level, what helped was the support of owners Robbie and Peter, plus bar manager Dave. They were extremely generous with their tolerance and finances, paying for pitch fees, football kits, tracksuits, the use of their personal people carrier plus free drinks and functions on numerous occasions. In summary and I think that I can comment for all the lads from those days we had a good time and it was a pleasure to know them and their staff.
I’m so interested in who owns this property now – can anyone help me please? If so can you email pictures@stockton.gov.uk and they will forward on my contact details. Thanks. Pippa.
At the time it was the best place in Stockton to go in your dinner hour for a meal or sandwich and a pint, always busy due to the quality of the food. Quickly went down hill when the owners left for Spain I believe. Shame no where like it in town now.
I/We, Paul and Lesley loved our time as Landlord and Landlady at the Riverside Inn. 2.5 years of heaven and a small bit hell. We left in Dec 99.

We have learned today that Robbie Marshall former pub landlord of The Garrick and the Riverside Inn died on Tuesday 24 October 2017. R.I.P Robbie.
