Sowerby Butchers, Station Road, Billingham c1980s

t14526 t14527In the late 1980’s our butchers shop, T.J Sowerby’s had a revamp. We replaced the shop front at number 25 Station Road, Billingham and knocked through to our other property next door making it one big shop.

  1. Anyone know anything about a John Raymond Sowerby, born 1905, died in 1967. In 1944 he was living at no. 2 Bailey Street, Stockton. He was a Corporal in the Royal Engineers during WWII and was wounded whilst serving in Italy, I think?

  2. All the talk about Sowerby Butchers, but there has been no mention of Michael (Mick) yet, a well known character in the local football circles.

    • Hello anon, unfortunately Mick is no relation to the Sowerbys of T. J. Sowerby Butchers, and we only moved to the area in the 1920s and then in 1932 we opened our family butchers, but there is another Sowerby family in the area that are no immediate relation to us. Hope you have better luck finding something about Mick out from a different source.
