This is a photograph of the lodge which still stands at the entrance to Manor Place in Fairfield. I myself lived there for a few years. It was built in 1898 and was originally the gatekeepers lodge and the road would have led up to the big Rimswell Manor house at the top of the road. The house is long gone now and has been replaced by regular houses.

Hi John
Thanks for posting about the lodge. I am really interested in the history of the lodge.
Do you have any more information you can share with me?
Thanks
Kath
Is this the John Callender that went to Richard Hind 1961 to 66?
No, but I had friends who went there.

Thank you for the pictures of the Manor House & Lodge. I lived in the house almost opposite the lodge (in Manor Place) for a number of years with my family. It was very interesting to see the Manor House, as by the time our house was built it had been demolished. Nice to see the Mature Trees that had been on the original drive were not taken down when the houses were built. I have lovely memories of waking in the morning and looking into the trees through the seasons.
I think all the large trees in Manor place all have preservation orders on them. The one next to the lodge certainly did as I couldn’t just start trimming it without getting permission.
Thank you for another interesting photo, re Manor Lodge. Never new the Manor, but passed the lodge many times, without knowing its history.
