An excellent picture. I struggled at first with the unusual aspect. Burtons put everything into perspective. The Army and Navy Store and a glimpse of the chemist. Post Office opposite.
There seems to be a lot of smartly dressed young people anticipating an event? Could it have something to do with the young men outside the barbers all with the same hairstyle and tailored suits? I recall that bands played in the square at this time, next to the toilets! Could they be the Johnny Taylor Five?
I lived above Burtons in 1964 and loved it. Great picture brought back a lot of memories. Thanks

The JT5 did indeed play in the Town Square on October 5th 1963. The area was crowded with onlookers enjoying the sun and music (I hope)!
