  1. I used to be in the Church choir there, a long time ago, somewhere around the 1950-60 region, and I was christened there.

  2. The Church Records of St Lukes Church, Thornaby are stored for safe keeping in the Middlesbrough & Teesside Archives, Exchange House, Exchange Square, Middlesbrough (run by Middlesbrough Borough Council) address 6 Marton Rd, Middlesbrough TS1 1DB. Phone: 01642 248321, found opposite Middlesbrough railway station, adjacent to the spot where the old bus terminus used to be. The records kept include 98 major companys including Dorman & Long, 276 organisations including churches, hospitals, port records, etc, of interest to me was the diary kept by Dennis Towlard, (1960-1991), headmaster of Thornaby-on-Tees Church of England School and Georgian theatre researcher of Stockton-on-Tees. The Teesside Archives collects, catalogues and preserves records and documents relating to the areas of Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, and Redcar.
