W D 90067 shedded at 51C West Hartlepool from 1955 until withdrawal from service later in 1964.
Train, a Class H through freight, appears to be composed of 16 ton tippler wagons, often used to carry coal or iron ore. Probably bound from Hartlepool to Skelton Sidings at York and then on from there. Such a train left Hartlepool for many years at just after 13.00, reaching York at just after 16.00. The black smoke suggests that the fireman is concentrating on building up his fire in preparation for the coming climb from Yarm up towards Picton and Welbury.
