From 1947 to 1949 I lived with my parents in a top floor flat above the Midland Bank at 136 High Street. I was told that, on a Sunday morning, I was not to be a nuisance by getting up too early. Lying in bed, wide awake, I listened to the chiming of the clock on the Parish Church. It did so every 15 mins. Some people found it annoying but it stopped me getting into trouble.
