Although much has changed there are still memories of the past in this photo. I can see Currys where my older brother bought his first bicycle (a Triumph) for work in the early fifties. At the top of the building in the background it say Stewarts Clothiers where my Mum bought my school uniform on a ‘ticket’. These were days of austerity that bear little, if any, resemblance to the current period with the same name.
