Hello. I may have a Bennington ancestor – does the name Jane Bennington b. 1821 Newcastle, d. Stockton 1900 mean anything to you. I am trying to find a link to her in my family tree. Her married name was possibly Grafton, and – if it is her – she worked at Thornaby pottery. I also have the name Jane Brown for her, so there is some confusion. Her daughter Fanny Brown married an Anderson, and they were living in Thornaby in the late 1800s, early 1900s. If you have anything that can help me clarify this, I would be most grateful. Many thanks. Jackie O’Neill (nee McKenna).

My Dad, Ronny Bennington, frequented this establishment, and I understand ‘Ma’ Shepherd the Landlady was a force to be reckoned with!
