Coming off the refuge siding, West of the Davis bridge, on to the up line, (wrong line working), before accessing the down line, East of the level crossing. Normally, this would be to join the Port Clarence branch, enroute for North Tees power station, with coal from the Durham coast, but that meant the brake van would be next to the loco. These could be coal empties from the power station, destined for return to the coastal pits via Hartlepool. These 2-6-0 loco’s were regular performers in the Teesside area, and lasted into 1967, 62041 lasted until April 1967.
