A school photograph capturing the scoundrels of form 4A if memory serves, I think it was 1970 but I’m not sure… I found it among my deceased mothers possessions and thought some my like to have a shot at putting names to faces, identify the living…. and the departed. I can name almost all. I am second from the right front row sat next to Tony Bailey first right. With “Billy Cap” sitting proudly in the centre who ruled over the class with a rod of iron, and a table tennis bat with which he dealt out summary justice on the spot!

I want to St Bedes in 1963, I think that this photo is much later than 1970 as we all had to wear school uniform up until I left in 1968 and much after

Good man Trevor…….seen him in the George & Dragon Yarm some years back….he hadn’t changed a bit ;¬)
The teacher is indeed Billy Maclean, at St Bede’s for very many years. Taught music then later English.
Billy passed away a few years ago in his nineties.
Billy MaClean was a good youth footballer playing for the very good South Bank Juniors that won four trophies when he played for them.

I believe the second on the left on second row is John Peacock, stood between Ray Mallon and Paul Etherington, a good lad and keen cyclist as I recall, better than I was anyway, On reflection I’m thinking this picture was earlier than 1970…. maybe around 1968/69
Looks like my brother second on the left on second row. I was next door at St Mary’s in second year.
