A photograph of the Victoria Cycling Club taken in Helmsley c1933. The cyclist to the far right is my grandfather, Bobby Thompson from Fairfield in Stockton.

How wonderful! My Grandfather founded Thornaby Wheelers and they used to go to the Lake District and back, often the same day. My Father and Mother were only born in 1930 so it was later but marvellous to see. As a family, we have very fond memories of Helmsley.
The bikes seem too small. Was this the typical size in those days?

I suspect so, yes.

Great photo, no obese kids in those days, walk or cycle was the only choice for most.

They are standard size with the dropped handlebars known as racing bikes back in the day.
