  1. How wonderful! My Grandfather founded Thornaby Wheelers and they used to go to the Lake District and back, often the same day. My Father and Mother were only born in 1930 so it was later but marvellous to see. As a family, we have very fond memories of Helmsley.

    • Hi Dawn, I was looking at old photos of Stockton Cycling Club when I came across your comments about Thornaby Wheelers. I was a member of Thornaby wheelers from 1949 to 1955. What is your grandfathers name please? I might well have known him.
We had wonderful times when there were NO cars on the roads and we went all over the Yorkshire, Durham, Lancashire and Northumberland areas. Very happy times.
