Dennis’s, Brinkburn Road, Norton

My parents owned and ran this shop at 20 Brinkburn Road, Norton from 1963 to 1972 before moving on due to the shop next door taking away some of their trade when they began to open late nights.

  1. Thank you for sharing these photos, I remember the shop so well, I was born in Brentford Road in 1960, and lived there for 20+ years. I do remember Dennis and vaugly remember his son. Happy days.

    • High Graham.
My parents Dennis & Renee had two sons. Myself, Glenn and Nigel who was born whilst they owned the shop.

  2. I don’t remember the shop with that name I do remember the shop when Portus had it and Eddy Blenkonsop the first shop on the left was a green grocery owned by Taylor they had a daughter Carol. The shop on far right at on time was a tropical fish shop

    • We moved out mid 1972. Shops from left to right were a hairdressers, general dealer/off-licence, Dennis’s and the forth was maybe a coal store. The couple kept greyhounds which were probably raced at the Belle Vue stadium.

  3. My mother also had a small store in Stockton which was very successful, until the supermarkets started opening longer hours.
