  1. Thomas’s has always been in my life. I remember ‘old Mr Thomas’ and also Keith and Barbara(I think?). Is David the 3rd or 4th generation? We lived in Weston Crescent when I was small and we went there with our pocket money. They sold Dinky toys and a major decision, sweets or a car? They delivered our papers for many years. There might have been a post office in there at one time while it was still a small shop?
After it became a supermarket, there was a fresh meat counter with a proper butcher, Harry. They always delivered and sometimes my mum would drop off a list to be made up, or even ring in an order. My dad used to ring for a crate of Double Maxim, leave the empty one and a cheque behind the front door, the driver would ting the bell, open the front door and swap for a full one. My mum was an occasional customer right till she died, 70 years in total.
Every time I drive past, it brings back memories.

  2. What a great photograph, interesting that most of the confectionery still exists, but the bars are much smaller these days! This must be the shop that became Thomas supermarket, then the Spar, now Nisa? Growing up and living in Brentford Road at the bottom of Trent street (across the road) I was in this shop most days with my late mum. Lovely memories. 👍
