Is that the Black Cat on the right 🙂 When we visited the Abbey in 1988 we saw the Black Cat in the graveyard .
Hi Brian, you know I’m not sure what that is, I thought it was just a shadow but you may be right!
Julie
Wow ! how amazing to have a photo of so long ago. Lucky you. The clothes and the hats are a wonder!
Hi Patricia, yes I am very lucky, and I was recently thinking of how they would have journeyed to Whitby, By train maybe or by steamer from the Tees at Stockton, I know there were some day trips organised, who would be brave enough though!
Julie
Yes, I’d go for the steamer…might have been a bit rough though! The road weren’t all that good either, so the steamer would have been a better and quicker option I’d guess.
Hello Julie:
I have the very same picture of my great great grandparents – my great grandfather was Robert Hind, which Hind are you related to? Are you my cousin Julie Walker?
Hi Linda, I am Oliver Hind’s granddaughter his father was Robert Oliver, I’m living up near Durham where do you fit in the puzzle, are you Linda Jackson?
