I was at this school for only one year. We moved to Norton in August 1957 and I’d already passed the 11 plus in Stockport but was 4 weeks too young to go to Secondary School so I had an enjoyable year with a great class and a great teacher (Mr Thompson). I can put names on some of the faces but I don’t know how reliable my memory is after 67 years.

Thanks for posting this image. RIP my cousin, Doreen C (nee Willmott) Robinson, 1946-2009 shown 5th from the left on the middle row here.
Mr Thompson was the headmaster.
I new his wife Joan Thompson.
after he passed away my uncle
was her companion and lived together for many years after.
He was a gentleman and I once
painted the outside of his house.
Is the name Ann Sheraton familiar? I think she’s second from right front row. My aunty Ann was taught by Mr. Thompson, as was I in the last year before he died.
Good afternoon Sarah. Ann did attend Norton Board school but is not in this photo. I added another picture picture some time ago showing her class in about 1950. Kind regards, John..
Uncle John? Great to hear from you! Thank you for that! Do you have the Picture Stockton reference number, entry title or URL of the picture with Aunty Ann in please?
Sarah you must be the daughter of Jean & Ken . If Ann’s married name is Waller there are photos of her on the Newham Grange School website.
Hi Len good to hear from you again. Can you give a full description of the website or provide a URL please? I’m having difficulty in finding the photo.
Your uncle John Waller will sort it for you.
let’s hope he receives update emails. I have no other way of contacting him.
Hi Cedric, I remember you joining us – I’m last on the right, next to Andy Rigg.
Hi Cedric, I remember you very well . I’m at the right hand end of the back row, next Andy Rigg. My mother had passed away a few weeks before the photo was taken and I had to get dressed and out of the house by myself in the mornings – and it shows!
50+ kids in one class? Wow.
I HAD HAPPY years at Norton Board from 1959 to 1961 then 4 unhappy years at Richard Hind in Stockton. This class photograph is lovely but 2 years before my time. Thank you for sharing it.
