This photo was taken by my father from my grandma’s flat in Nolan House. The flat was on the 11th floor, overlooking the rear of Debenhams. I’m unsure about the exact date, but it’s likely from the late 1970s.

With my parents,I lived on the 16th floor of Hume House, had a fabulous view up Durham Road from living room and Stockton centre from bedroom
The brewary chimney to the right of the town hall,.. Ward Thompsoms gun shop across from the American Tavern…
We can see the roof of the Swallow Hotel, so the brewery would have been demolished by this time. The chimney might be the one at the old tramway power station/engineering works, off Boathouse Lane near Victoria Bridge.
