I remember this hospital across the top end of Grove Street, the place where I lived the first 10 years of my life – I think the hospital was demolished a few years before we moved away – I seem to recall going into it with my mother once or twice – maybe for an injection – maybe to visit somebody – I recall the starkness of it but also the friendliness – I see that friendliness in these undated photos – in the nursing staff and the patients – it was a bleaker time but I think people knew how to treat each other with courtesy.
