On the ending of trams in 1931, Sir Frank Brown, son of one of original Directors of The Imperial Tramway, had this tram-post retained in front of his residence “The Priory”, High Street Norton. Successive owners of “The Priory” have had the post cleaned and painted. “The Priory” was one of the first houses in the village lit by electricity by cable from the tram supply, routed into the house in 1898.
