This is my Grandfather… I found this picture whilst researching possibilities for my family tree. I believe that my grandfather had a family tree researched while he was mayor of Stockton and if anyone knows anything about it I would like to know. Herbert Edward Clarke
I must be one of the kids sitting down waiting to get my prize. I was in Junior 1 that year and received my book prize from the Mayor. Mrs Dee was our teacher and I asked for a book on history. When asked what history, I said Robin Hood and and thus received the Merry Tales of Robin Hood which I read about 20 times until I somehow lost it. Mrs Dee was about 60, or seemed to be, and a real victorian but was nowhere near as scary as old Mrs Hicks my previous teacher in the infants, next door, who used regulary used the ruler on the hands, and sent any pupil home who could not produce a handkerchief everyday. This resulted in my trouser pocket lining being torn out one day out of fear of being sent home in shame.
