Norton sub power station

Norton sub-station and depot, based on about two acres of land. The shed is 190 feet long by 40 feet in width. At this depot, no electric power was used further than for the movement of the cars. Both Norton and Middlesbrough depots had the curved roofs, whereas Stockton had a triangular roof.

  1. At the start of the 1939/45 World War the old tram depot was used as a fire station by the AFS, of which my father was a member, I used to go and see him there before going home from the Norton Board School, the AFS personnel based there also also used the Hollies at one time during this period. Apart from my father the only other name of the men stationed there that I can remember is Tiger Taylor.
