I remember the sweet shop – was it Anderson”s? On the way to the duckpond before the tennis club. We used to get icecreams there as well. Did Wolviston supplies used to be the saddlery?
100 percent sure this is Durham Rd, Wolviston. The single story building was Wolviston supplies. They had another part to the shop just over the road, it belonged to Graham Pinkneys dad, and the farm yard opposit was Sundail house that was Berty Scotsons place in the 1960″s. At the far right on the bottom of the picture you can just see part of the garden was Stephen Scotsons farm. I was also wondering if anyone can remember the sweet shop on Wynyard Road, just past Lax Terrace on the left, it is now a house. Old Berty Husband builders was once on the corner of Wynyard Road.
This is not the High Street, it is Durham Road. The road bends sharp right at the left of the picture into the High Street. The side road on the right of the picture is Lax Terrace. The single storey building just to the left of centre is the old Wolviston Supplies hardware shop (no longer there!)
This is more likely Durham Road in Wolviston with Lax Terrace joining at the upper right corner. Central to the photo is the former “Wolviston Supplies” hardware store. Bottom right is the Wellington Public House car park.
That’s Durham Road.
Bottom left hand corner of the photo is the car park for The Welly.

This is not a view of the high street, it is Durham Road, the high street is off to the left.
This photograph is definitely Durham Road. I remember Wolviston Supplies as having a sign referring to themselves as “Ironmongers Extraordinnaire”!
