  1. The right hand photo certainly is St. Johns Level Crossing over Bridge road. The view is toward the river and was taken c.1900.

  2. My guess is that the railway crossing on the right-hand photograph is the Bridge road crossing, Stockton (I seem to remember it was called St. John”s crossing). The building on the right is the S.D.Railway ticket office and the buildings on the other side of the road would be John B. Smith”s timber yard.

  3. It looks like St Johns Crossing on Bridge Road just before The Victoria Bridge. The original booking office is the building on the right of thr photograph. This line led to Corporation Quay.

  4. Christine , I think the photo on the right looks like St John”s crossing ,looking toward Bridge Road and onward to the quayside railway branch in Stockton. If it is, part of the site is still there (even if the rails are not) with the old S&D railway ticket office ( which is in the photo) on the right as you go from the end of Stockton High Street to Thornaby, close to Victoria Bridge but the other side of the road is a shopping centre & bingo. I think images t1363, S423 and S438 on the site are also of this area. Hope your family tree searches around Norton are still going well .

  5. Does anybody have any information on the picture of the railway crossing above right? I would like to know where it is.
