  1. Top row RH four (L-R):
Colin Thompson, John Hibbert(?), Michael Harrison(?), Lesley Raper. The apparition on the right is surely Mrs Smiles (smiling for once), a smoker who’d think nothing about gratuitously clouting learners – with a book to the head! Using the other years’ photographs, surely we’d eventually name everyone? (Not all of course will still be living…) At that age – and even much later on – (after Jennifer Rigg and Pamela Webster), I wanted to marry Judith Horner (on bottom left) a lovely quiet and intelligent girl who lived in Croft Road on the corner into Newlands Road. I recall we got our polio ‘booster’ shots together.

      • Hello Pamela Varney, Colin calling. Extremely sorry I missed your comment; I never really expected any response and have not revisited this particular school photograph for some time. Would you like us to correspond (it’s been a mere 60 years after all!)???

        • That would be nice Colin, so good to hear from you. The Picture Stockton team will send you my email address. Looking forward to hearing from you.

  2. Sheila Webster & Sue Scott (Shepherd)when I was at secondary school most of my close friends were from Eaglescliffe. Fiona & Alison Johnston & Sheila Swinscoe lived within walking distance of Katie”s my then girlfried,(Reg & Lal Goddard 664 Yarm Road). Dave Grey, Alan Earle, Mike Lloyd, Dave Pope, Bruce Thomas & “Chip” Baxter – we all palled about together in the early sixties. This is some memory jerker!

  4. This is a class photo of pupils at Egglescliffe village school. I am gussing the years, but it has to be pretty close. The school had two class rooms, one partitioned, cloak room, kitchen and outside toilet block. We also had “the hut” and Mr JACKSON”s vegetable garden.Mrs JACKSON taught us music and the Maypole. Sportsday was held at the farm. Next door was “Crisps” the ghost house. We would dare each other to go and find the skeletons in the derelict building and grounds. On the photograph is:Mr JACKSON(Sir) headmaster and his wife Mrs JACKSON. I can only name a few I am afraid but would love to be reminded of the others.
