  1. This carriage was indeed part of the 150 year celebrations situated outside the SWALLOW HOTEL it sold all kinds of memorabilia including tins of smoke from LOCOMOTIONS run 1825. After the celebrations in the High St it went to PRESTON PARK Eaglescliffe and became part of their transport section where it sold the remainder of the left overs from the celebrations at lower prices

  2. This carridge contained amongst other things, a frieze, or mural, done by kids from Newtown Junior school featuring Locomotion no1, and its first train. I know this because my sister was one of the kids who did it!a picture of the kids holding the frieze appeared in one of the evening gazette remember when photos, some years ago. the Coach livery, was the Cleveland Transit Orange and Jasmine private hire Livery, to be seen on the Coaches, and minibuses from 1973 onwards. Does anyone remember the stuffed Blue Whale which was mounted on the back of a trailer and displayed in Stockton sometime during the 1960s, or the (live) baby African Elephant which was displayed in a warehouse somewhere near Wellington Street also during the 1960s? the Whale appeared on the TV secret histories programme last year, on one of the sky channels. ( I only caught the last few credits of this programme, but it came back to me straight away!)

  3. I remember coming out of a pub in the high street one night in 1975, and being surprised at seeing this hive of activity, as the coach was being positioned in John Walker Square. It was painted in a yellow and orange scheme, and was donated by Thompson”s scrapyard, and later went to Preston Park. I believe it has since been scrapped

  4. This carriage was part of the 1975 (150 year) Celebration of the Stockton & Darlington Railway , a far greater show, which attracted Royalty and thousands of visitors, than the 2000 (175 year), which past almost un-noticed

  6. That looks like the train carriage placed in John Walker Square in Stockton in the 70″s. It was open to the public as part of an exhibition or something.
