  1. My father John Edward Longstaff went to Bailey Street School in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s his nickname was “Shinner” from his hard tackles with the other boys. He was also in an annex at the old Ragged School in Bath Street, went swimming at the swimming pool in Bath lane and the Tilery recreation ground for sports and football. Mr Hibbs and Miss Fairey were my fathers teachers, and the school song was “Play up and play the game”.
    From dads unpublished memoirs.

  2. Mel Ingram – The man in the middle at the back is Mr Walker. He was the caretaker of Bailey Street school and lived in the next street, Bowser Street, next to my grandmother. My family lived in 3 Bowser Street.

  3. My dad, Edward Reeves went to Bailey Street school when he was young. Does anyone have pics of him or the school. also does anyone have pics of Eddie Reeves junior, he died last year aged 52. He worked and played football for Pickerings lifts amongst others. Thanks so very much if you have christine foster my email address is chrisreevesfoster@hotmail.com

  4. Can anybody assist in naming any of the people on this photo? I believe one of them may be my father Albert James Ingram. In particular the gent in the centre of the photo at the rear appears on my fathers wedding photo”s some years later. Any assistance or suggestions would be gratefully received.

    • I know I’m related to Albert James Ingram. My grandads dad is Harry Ingram’s son, he was born on the 18th of March 1945
