I can confirm this is taken with the photographer stood at the bottom of the platform slope at the South – Yarm – end of the station looking North towards Stockton. Go to Google Maps and enter 54.528962,-1.350243 and zoom right in. You can JUST see the signal that you”re looking at the back of between the platform edge and the ramp down onto the platform from the over bridge.
I think that this view is looking towards Stockton not Yarm. The structure in the forground is the footbridge from the carpark to what used to be the booking office. The ramps down to the platforms from the bridge and booking office have always faced Stockton. Unfortunatly the second platform and waiting rooms etc have long gone. Maybe Grand Central Railways will reinstate them!
