You are right Jean – I recognised nana and Aunty Did but surprisingly not Aunty Betty or Lucy! Must be because they were so young on photo! Nice to hear from you though.
Great surprise to see this photo. The lady with the handbag is my Aunt Did, the lady behind her is my Aunt Elsie sister of my mother Evelyn (nee Davies) Lady with the dog is my cousin Lucy and left of her as you look at the photo is my cousin Betty. I remember mother talking of Rendezvous on the trips they went on. Thanks to Nick Mee for giving me such a lovely surprise. Linda if you are doing the family tree my daughter Terry has lots of info.
I remember my nana going on these trips – I belive they used to use Dave Rennison”s buses. It will most certainly have been one of the “Rendezvous” trips and my nana Elsie McNeill and great aunt are on this photo
Do you know roughly when this photo was taken? The lady on the front row holding a dog(?) looks a lot like my husband”s grandmother, but the date would have to be right.
This may have been the annual “Rendezvous” trip possibly Blackpool? My great aunt is the lady near the front holding a handbag and possibly my maternal grandmother sat behind her. I don”t know exactly what it was but I can remember my grandmother (nana) talking about the “Rendezvous” which was a regular meeting over a cup of tea of local Portrack ladies. Could the two males in the picture be the bus drivers and the lady with the pinny the seaside landlady?
This is a picture of what we believe is a trip organised by my Grandmother Meggie Mee, originally of Nicholson Street, Portrack Lane area. She was a lifelong resident of Stockton on Tees and many of her grand-children still live in the area. This particular photograph we understand is one of a yearly day trip she used to organise for others in the Stockton area – it may be something else!! She is seated one in from the right on the bench as you look at it with grey hair and a pearl string. It must have been taken outside one of the local public houses. I would be interested if people knew exactly what the trips were for – a local club or organisation? – or was it something else ? – and if anybody recognises members of their family. It seems odd that it is mainly women (only two men) and one of them appears to have a pinny on!!
Does anyone have any other old photos of Elsie, Did, Betty or Lucy, perhaps on other outings. Would love to see them.
