The engine is class WD 2-8-0 No.90445 and was working the Stephenson Locomotive Society’s ‘East Durham Limited’ from West Hartlepool. It travelled along various routes and branches in the Durham area before returning to West Hartlepool. Date was 15th May 1965. Organised by John Boyes and Peter Semmens. John became S&T Engineer to the NYMR and Peter became assistant curator at the NRM. Sadly both are no longer with us.
I remember your Auntie Jessie very well although I didn’t know she worked at the signal box. You and I lived quite close to each other in Stillington when we were growing up.
Bob Beall was my brother in law who did work the Redmarshall boxes and then moved to Norton East. When this closed he was transferred to Norton West and worked there till his death. His younger brothed Jud died in March 2008. I am still married to his sister Margaret.
Bob used to work in Redmarshall South and when required at Redmarshall East his brother, Jud, was a relief book lad with me. His sister Margaret married a signalman called Dennis Gilbert and his brother Dave Gilbert used to work at Norton South, there was another Gilbert brother but I have forgot his name, I think it was Roland. Bob was a great character who died much to young, he was a really good lad. Hope you are well Bill .
Again Gordon, a good picture. Is this the box that Bob Beal use to work before he moved to Norton East? I use to remember Bob telling me about working a Stillington box, or it may have been Redmarshall.

My auntie, Jessie Parnaby, also worked at the signal box – does anybody remember her?
