The Old Rectory 1845,Redmarshall This Building stands to the N.E of St Cuthberts Church , Its red brick in contrast to the mellow stone-work of the Church It stands of an earlier building as stone blocks similar to the Church structure have been incorporated by the Victorian builders as steps and walls. Far left on the chimney breast is the much corroded stone crest of Carew Bishop of Durham. Behind the tree centre above the main enterance is a much large plaque reading “Rev Thomas Austin 1845”. The Rev Austin raised 14 children in this Rectory, 12 to adulthood. A large stable yard and carriage house is on the North side of this large “L”shaped building . now a series of flats.

  2. Loved seeing this picture, I worked on the cottage on the front of it for Mr Dagg. Mr Dagg (snr) son owns the house pictured and his father owns the cottage in front
