These pictures bring back some memories,we lived at Browns Bridge for over 20 years from 1955, The first picture especially, because a gang of us regularly played football on the grass between the 2 sets of buildings. During one game, the ball ended up on this roof so David Matchett and myself clambered up to retrieve it..As we were about to get down the way we had come , a gentleman who was probably a caretaker found us up there and possibly thought we were up to no good, so we did what most kids would do and without another thought took a run and jumped. Amazingly we both got up and ran like the clappers.
The first photo shows a Mini going up Wrensfield Road. It always flooded after heavy rains. It could have been me driving the Mini as I had a few over the years whilst living there ?.
Dave.
Live there in 1972 good place good times .
Definitely your mam at the end of the gate 68 Bishopton Road
We lived in the second last house from the end, and I think this is my mam at the gate.
We lived at 68 Bishopton Road, second house from the end, this is a view from the row of terrace houses, about 1973/4.
I stand corrected Bill, it was Vicarage Street (my old address book was wrong) . . . but does anyone know when this flooding was?
Definitely Vicarage Street, same as me.
Yes thats correct, Jack Steer did live in Vicarage Street but he did move to Bishopton Road. He used to develop my films when I was a kid and keen on photography.
I’m sure Paul Steer lived at 32 Vicarage Avenue.
I remember getting photos processed by Paul’s dad about 1959/60/61. At that time they lived in Vicarage Street about 8 doors down from us, about no 28 or 30. I remember Paul was a keen aeroplane modeller.
I was loaned these photo’s by Suzanne Steer (widow of Paul Steer) and they were taken by her late father in law, Jack Steer, from their house at 82 Bishopton Road. Jack was a keen amateur photographer and used to develop and print neighbours films. Does anyone know when this was? I am guessing it was about 1964 to 1966.
