Yes I agree it’s changed a bit since then, but from my days roller skating around the High Street, in fear of ‘Elliot’ catching you and giving you an ear bender in the 50’s, the 1985 photo is the aftermath of losing out to Middlesbrough in the rezoning to Tees-Side and the desecration of the High Street, Imagine how popular as a tourist attraction it would be if all the old buildings and alley ways including the FFyfe’ warehouse had been retained, a wonderful thing hindsight.
