Team was back row, l to r: Dixon, Whittaker, Leighton, Gaul, Brown, Hopper, Wallis, Storr.
Front: Smith, Casey, Brennan, Aynsley, Kell.
Malcolm Gaul sadly died young.
Hi, just clearing my loft in my house in old Esh village and found a history and French notebook that belonged to David’s Aynsley in 1958 (class 3A). That wouldn’t be the chap in the front row, would it?
Sorry anon,
Just read your comment about this game at Synthonia. It was not against Wigan. This was the occasion we beat Newcastle 1 – 0 in the “Sunderland Childrens Hospitals” cup final. I remember I was disappointed not to play in that game – Dave Brown being preferred.
I think the cup this team won would of been the Salter Cup, Ken. These boys were not under 15 in season 1956-57, when David Brown was in the Stockton Boys team it was 1959. It’s good to see all these photos of all the Richard Hind teams that won silverware that you were involved with.
Two of the boys in this photo originated from the Gasworks area, back-row 3rd left is David Leighton the youngest of the Leighton brothers from Langley Street and David Brown, back-row 5th from left. He was in the Stockton Boys team that reached the English Schools Semi-Final, his father had the butchers shop at the junction of Allison Street and Hume Street, both lads played for a good Newtown team. This is another Richard Hind team that did the double.

Most likely Simon. Dave was in my class and he definitely lived at Esh (Winning?)

Where on this page have I mentioned a game at Synthonia?
Dave (Butcher Boy) Brown was a regular in the Stockton Boys Team, with Joe Whitfield left back.
Does anybody know any of the other boys names in this photo?
