With Lindsay House due for demolition it’s like a little bit of history repeating. A preview of what is to come once it’s gone and the Sun Inn can see the… sun again. In the 2nd photo you can see the pediment frontage of the Plaza Theatre on Bishop Street (http://picturestocktonarchive.wordpress.com/2007/10/19/grand-pub-the-plaza-theatre/).
The car in the background is a BMC Farina bodied model built C1959 onwards. The building site in the foreground looks like the former Victoria Buildings, demolished to be replaced by the present 1960s ‘box’, not in any sense an improvement. Possibly early – mid 1960s for the date of the photo? Love the offices next to the Sun Inn. Remember the slogan, “Civil Defence is common sense”?
Talk about what goes around comes around…

The building in the second photo Next to the Trustee Bank,J.Wolsey & Son is one of only three single storey buildings in Stockton High Street.
