  1. I wonder if this was a ‘Merryweather Fire Engine’? My ancestor, Moses, (b. 1793 Welbury, North Yorkshire) was apprenticed to a London engineer and went on to develop and own the company. His fire engines were used world wide. Moses’ brother, William, moved to Hartlepool and he, and his son Joseph Benjamin Lister Merryweather, became ship owners.
