Yarm High Street in October showing the ‘Travellers’ caravans parked-up and organised just 30 minutes after the High Street is closed to traffic, all being situated at the quieter north-end. In the distance at the south-end, the ‘show-men’ are busy erecting the huge mechanical ‘rides’ and the gaming ‘stalls’, by working late into the night, the fair will be ready to open the next evening.
