At this time, I attended South Modern Junior School. I remember the Co-op at the corner opposite the Park and the Picture House on Mill Lane with a Dance Hall above the stores. The grocery shop on Station Road was I believe Gallons. This may be in the thirties before a move into new and bigger premises.
I worked at Billingham Co-op in 1948 in Station Road which was on the corner. It was grocery and next door Co-op butchers. Was this Co-op put there later and over the road?
Has my memory gone awry or were Dampney’s a decorator’s shop?
