In the 1861 Census, my 2x gt grandfather was living here when it was The Three Tuns in. He was James Dixon, 1836-1894, a horse groom. and lived with the Humble family
Great pub, lots of lovely memories of Pete and Robbie, also from
their Garrick Days.
Remember this pub having a thriving lunchtime trade and sandwiches to take out in the 1970s. They were really good value for money with plenty of choice. About 45p at that time, I seem to remember.
My mother worked as a barmaid in this pub for many years, probably 1970’s through to 1980’s. Many memories as a youngster helping out collecting glasses and people watching.
This pub was the Three Tuns before the Riverside. The Riverside had a good Stockton and District League football team which did very well in the Durham F.A. Minor Cup.
Anon thank you. Saved me from having to ask the question. A Cameron’s pub if memory serves!
Yes these guys won the Durham Cup.
